Battle of The Bands!

Battle of the Bands took place this saturday and it was a HUGE success! The turnout was really good and everyone worked very hard that night as well as during the day. Kirsty, Imran, Karl and I were in charge of collecting tickets and body checking where as Nadeera, Rasmus, etc. were in charge of sound. The raffle tickets too sold quite well and in total, along with sponsorships, etc. I think we made a total of around 350,000 - 400,000 which is pretty amazing!

Battle of the Bands

The Battle of the Bands will be taking place this coming saturday (26th), thus everything has been pretty chaotic. I'm mainly in charge of selling the tickets so Kirsty and I have been trying to sell them at every opportunity. We have also been selling raffle tickets to get more money. I'm really hoping the concert will be a hit!
MUN too has been pretty hectic as getting sponsors this year has been rather difficult due to the increase in the cost of living. That along with the fact that we're trying to get Cinnamon Grand for the final day of conference has put an extra burden on our shoulders however I am very passionate about MUN thus I'm going to see this true.

MUN is really helping me develop my confidence as well as my collaborative skills as working along side a diverse group of people really helps in being open minded and understading other's ideas. In addition the concept of MUN helps develop my knowledge regarding issues of global imporatance. MUN is my true passion and I will continue to work very hard until the conference is a success!

Model United Nations

Model United Nations falls under my creative cateogary and it is going extremely well. I feel as I am being very proactive and getting a lot of work done. Last night itself, I along with two others met with the GM of Cinnamon Grand as we had to negociate prices, etc. We now have to meet with one final sponsor as we are trying to get them to be the soul sponsor. MUN is being really good to me as it is giving me confidence as well as restoring the confidence within me that I can actually organize a confernce of such a beign stance.

Visiting the Hospital for community and service.

Last Thursday, the members of the Cleft Pallete group visited the hospital. Due to the fact that the doctor wasn't there, we got to spend time with the kids. However almost all the kids were toddler's and asleep thus we couldn't interact too much with them. We got to see a little boy two days after he had gone through the surgery and you could already observe a major difference which really gave us the insentive to raise more funds as it proved to us how much the funds we raise help in changing a childs life.

The initial Cleft Pallete poster made by me. However the date of the concert will have to changed to the 24th.

Community and Service updates.

Due to the fact that the Cleft Pallete concert interfered with the play production it has been moved from the 11th of November till the 24th of November which gives are more time to organize a better event.

Changes in goals.

My MUN work and my CAS work is well on track however my action segment isn't. Due to inconvinience and time issues I won't be able to have zumba lessons however I will be playing tennis two nights a week. When I was younger I used to play a ton of tennis around 6 times a week, twice a day and I used to be really good. However after I joint OSC my schedule got too packed to play tennis competively so I stopped. However now since I have two free nights I'm going to be playing tennis leasurely with one of my old coaches and try and get back on track :D

5th September - 9th September 2011

Creativity: This week my creative aspect was involved in my daily life through MUN. This week was the first mun workshop at school and as Head of Admin, I along with the PGA and SGA helped give a basic introduction to all the delgates from OSC.
Action: This week I went for my first zumba lesson however the place was slightly dodgy so instead I went for a swim and swam 500 m as well as I walked for one and half hours.
Service: This week for service I finalized the letter we are going to send out to the different schools and I also created the poster for the Battle of the Bands competition which is a fundraiser held on the 11th of November in aid of Cleft Lip and Pallete surgeries.

Creativity
- Colombo Model United Nations: This is my third year taking part in COMUN and my second year in the excercative comitee. Since next year will be my final year, my ultimate goal is to be Secretary General.
- My passion is undoubtably fashion and up until now I've had my own clothing line (in which all the proceeds I recieved were donated towards an orgnization to aid dogs), taken part in fashion shows, etc. My other goal would be to take part in at least two more fashion shows displaying my creative skills.
